Artificial intelligence today is no longer a futuristic concept — it’s transforming the way companies manage their product information. At Pimics, we’re actively developing AI-driven solutions that make
product data management smarter, faster, and more reliable. Our approach follows the
vision Microsoft has outlined for AI in business applications, which focuses on two promising levels of AI adoption:
Copilot and
Agentic AI.
1. Copilot: Your Intelligent Assistant
The first level of AI,
Copilot, is already widely used. It’s the best personal assistant for your day-to-day agenda.
That said, Copilot still requires
specific instructions to perform tasks. For instance, when you don’t have the time and/or willpower to carefully read a hefty file containing product documentation, you ask Copilot to do it for you. Only then it comes up with a helpful summary.
Copilot speeds up workflows and reduces manual effort. Here at Pimics, we’re already relying on Copilot to make our work more efficient.
2. Agentic AI: The Autonomous Workforce
The second level,
Agentic AI, is where AI no longer needs specific instructions. It’s able to evaluate the data it works with and decide what needs to be done.
To give you an example how Agentic AI could operate: Microsoft already has a
Sales Agent in operation. It’s capable of reading your e-mails and when it finds an order for goods, it handles it for you autonomously. It may confirm the order, reserve goods in your warehouse and proceed to issue an invoice. Whatever your order dispatching process is.
OUR TIP: We’ve already written about the rise of Agentic AI in our article
How to Tell Whether Your Data Is AI-ready & Why Should You Care.
Food for Thought
The more autonomous AI gets, the more questions it raises. Like who will be
responsible for its actions when it makes a mistake?
Imagine someone sending out the order just makes a typo and accidentally orders 1,000 chairs instead of 100 for a normal-sized restaurant. A human handling the order would probably spot the mistake right away and ask the buyer whether the amount is correct. Would AI behave the same?
That’s why for now, human control is still necessary. But is this a sustainable approach? Only time will tell.
Currently, Agentic AI is still more of a
vision for the future than a fully functional tool. At Pimics, we’re committed to building our own autonomous assistants, bridging the gap between vision and practical implementation.
Here’s how it could look in the future: Imagine receiving a
product leaflet by email. A traditional Copilot would need a specific command to summarise or extract the data. On the other hand, Agentic AI could:
- Automatically extract all relevant product data from the leaflet.
- Transfer it into Pimics, structuring it correctly according to existing templates.
- Assign subtasks to Copilot or other agents — for instance, generating SEO texts, formatting specifications, or checking for errors.
- Mark email as processed, updating workflows without human intervention.
Future-Proofing Our Solutions
At Pimics, we currently have a side project that makes us feel like true pioneers: Together with
Mendel University in Brno, we’re developing two
cutting-edge AI agents as part of a EU-funded project. It‘s aimed at revolutionising the way businesses handle product data and logistics.
Our AI Agent will focus on
intelligent transformation of product data, using advanced NLP (Natural Language Processing) techniques to analyze, structure, and generate product descriptions and other digital content directly from natural language inputs.
Meanwhile, another AI Agent is being developed to assist in
managing logistics and distribution. Its tasks are going to be email processing, data analyses, and task automation (think inventory management and order fulfillment).
These innovations promise to bring significant benefits to businesses, especially in
product management and
supply chain optimisation. Here’s what’s in store:
- Transforming natural language into structured data to streamline product listings
- Automating the creation of marketing content
- Advanced image management based on language commands
- Optimising inventory and logistics operations with smart suggestions
These advancements will not only make
data management smarter but also help businesses embrace
Industry 4.0 with scalable and intelligent solutions. The project is testing this concept in real-world scenarios, particularly in complex product data environments. It aims to:
- Automate ingestion of diverse data formats from multiple suppliers.
- Reduce the need for manual verification while maintaining data accuracy.
- Explore the ethical and operational implications of autonomous AI, such as accountability and workforce impact.
The project highlights what the
next-generation PIM system might look like: a fully autonomous AI ecosystem capable of managing entire workflows while collaborating with human supervisors. While some challenges remain — such as human oversight for critical decisions — the potential is enormous!
How Pimics Clients Already Benefit from AI
Our revolutionary project aside, here
’s how Pimics already utilises AI to make our clients
’ lives easier:
- Generating Texts: Agents can draft product descriptions from images, including SEO-ready content for ads and online stores.
- Translations to Mutliple Languages: Agentic translations are of very high quality nowadays — a very helpful feature especially for our European clients.
- Generating Structured Data: For technical products like power tools or machinery, AI suggests data structures, guiding users and reducing manual work. This feature is already widely used in clients’ CRM and product management workflows.
- Data Import from PDFs: AI can automatically read PDF product sheets and import structured data into Pimics. In the future, we plan to extend this to blueprints and other technical drawings.
Together, these features dramatically reduce manual work, improve data accuracy, and free teams to focus on higher-value tasks.
PIM as Your Key to Growth
AI in PIM isn’t just a tech upgrade; it’s a
strategic advantage. It allows businesses to:
- Stay competitive in fast-moving markets.
- Reduce operational risks associated with manual errors.
- Accelerate time-to-market for new products.
At Pimics, we’re committed to helping our clients navigate both the present and future of AI in PIM. From Copilot to Agentic AI, we aim to make product data management smarter, safer, and more autonomous.
