SharePoint-Powered Digital Asset Storage

Sharepoint is our preferred centralized product data platform, but not the only one Pimics can work with. Our customers can choose other repositories for their files too.

Pimics works best with Sharepoint, because this platform provides ample document-handling functionality and seamless integration in the Microsoft ecosystem. There are a few Sharepoint features that are extensively used by our PIM solution: document versioning and collaboration, enhanced security with secure external access, centralized administration, site consolidation.

Pimics only keeps thumbnails of files inside the Business Central database, for easy previewing by the users who work with product data. Files are stored securely in the external repository (Sharepoint or other).

Metadata Management for Product Assets

You can manage file metadata directly into Pimics. You can classify files according to their destination channel or use case. Metadata can be manually edited or handled using artificial intelligence.

What file types does PIMICS DAM support?

PIMICS supports any digital file type and organizes assets into five categories: Documents (PDF, DOCX), Pictures (JPG, PNG, BMP, WebP), Media (audio and video), Graphics (icons, symbols), and CAD Drawings. External links to YouTube, Vimeo, or any hosted resource are also supported.

Do I need a separate DAM system?

No. PIMICS provides full DAM functionality natively inside Microsoft SharePoint and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Product data and digital assets are connected together, eliminating the need to purchase, integrate, or maintain a standalone DAM.

How does the SharePoint integration work?

PIMICS stores only thumbnails in Business Central for quick previewing. The actual files are stored in SharePoint. An Azure CDN service generates public links for publishing. The synchronization runs both ways between PIM and SharePoint, so you can manage files in either system and keep everything up to date.

Can I upload files in bulk?

Yes. Easily using SharePoint and OneDrive application. Files are mapped to products automatically based on configuration.

How are digital assets linked to products?

Based on the metadata configuration, digital assets are automatically linked to the corresponding products.

Does PIMICS support automatic file conversions?

Yes. PIMICS automatically converts image formats (JPEG, PNG, WebP, TIFF) and scales pixel dimensions to meet the requirements of each publishing channel — whether e-commerce, print catalog, or marketplace.

Can I enrich files with metadata?

Yes. Every digital asset can be enriched with keywords, features, and descriptive text — identical to how product data is enriched. AI-powered automatic tagging is also available to reduce manual effort.

Is PIMICS DAM available on-premise?

PIMICS can be deployed on-premise, or as SaaS. But the SharePoint needs to run only as SaaS.
