Pimics allows you to manage all your product data, no matter how complex, in one place that we call SPOT (Single Point of Truth), within your Business Central ERP. It covers both structured (like features, keywords or translations) and unstructured product information (like documents, pictures, videos or texts). To flexibly handle all possible data sources and formats, you can create custom data mappings to accommodate for any data transfer needs. With Pimics you can create all the product categorizations that you need. You may also have several product hierarchies for the same product range, depending on the needs of the sales channel.

Data Quality Control

One of the main reasons in adopting a PIM solution, is to be able to trust your product data. Then you can confidently publish them to all your sales channels, safe in the knowledge that you will have consistent information in all places, and the only differences from sales channel to sales channel will be there because you want them to be. Data Quality functionality in Pimics (through a process that we call certification) will help you identify products with incomplete descriptions, or products for which the information available does not match the intended channel. Users are informed about each instance where corrections are needed or advisable.

In managing outward-bound product information, Pimics uses publications. Each sales channel, each printed catalog, sales brochure or customer price list gets its own publication, which can be managed individually together with its own specific attributes depending on the necessary refresh rate of the channel, desired products included, data exchange, etc.

Currently, Pimics focuses on managing publication versions, so that users are able to track changes or easily revert to a previous state of a publication. Also, working with Sharepoint ensures good version control for all digital assets. For the near future, we envision expanding the scope of versioning and version control to include all stages of the product information lifecycle.

Boasting great similarity with Business Central’s own user settings, Pimics provides role-based user permissions, as well as granular permission settings. That means you will have complete control over each user’s allowed scope of work with product data.

Platform & Connectivity

Detailed activity tracking is an option, thanks to Pimics belonging inside Business Central. Every modification tracking functionality offered out-of-the-box by Business Central can be used for Pimics tables as well, thus ensuring full control over user activities if needed. 

Searching and filtering that involves product information also leverages the native SQL capabilities which ensure great speed and flexibility. Pimics is optimized for easily filtering product information based on any desired criteria. 

A vital functionality for any PIM platform today is connectivity. In this respect Pimics doesn't disappoint. Its API allows flexible all-around connectivity for data input and output, while XML/JSON file-based data exchange remains an option. We have standard connectors to a few platforms like Sana Commerce, Shopware or Shopify. For exporting data to sales channels outside our standard connectivity options, we offer integration to data syndication platforms like Channable, which means companies using Pimics can sell pretty much anywhere on the World Wide Web.

We have our own technology for replicating data between companies belonging to the same Business Central tenant. This can be extremely useful for groups of companies that want to manage their product data centrally and effortlessly replicate only what is needed for each individual company.

Classification standards

In product information terms, a classification is a logical and unambiguous arrangement of products into product classes or types. Standard classifications have been devised so that both suppliers and their partners can communicate product data between them, always having a common language. 

In Pimics you can work with most standard classification systems like ETIM, eCl@ss, GS1/GDSN or UN/CEFACT. Keep your data clearly organized, in a way that makes it easy to exchange with others!

Whether you work in the fashion industry and you sell predefined variants of the same product like various sizes of the same garment, or sell configurable products, Pimics will help you make use of those variants. It fully supports variants functionality in Business Central, and also adds functionalities of its own where needed.
